Oh Blog…It’s Been A While

Posted on October 30th, 2008 by David

Brenda here. So…David informs me that I’ve been slacking on my blogging duties. I’d like to say that it’s because I’ve been driving this whole time. But alas…no. I did get another hour in the other day. I just have to grit my teeth and do it! I know logically I can do it. I just have to tell my nerves that.

At this point, Tasha and I have been getting used to sitting in service center waiting rooms. Imagine me carrying a bag, giant dog bed and a dog on a leash into a waiting room. Funny. We’d scope out a nice corner, put her dog bed down and she’d settle in for the day. Almost like we were moving in. Everyone’s been very nice though. The people at the service centers are used to people traveling with there dogs, so no biggie. All issues, I believe, are worked out at this point….YEAH!

We had a nice visit with Andrea in Fort Pierce, FL. I got a tour of her school and met her students this year. We had a nice dinner, in the rv mind you, and just hung out for the evening.

We are now headed back to the cold north. As we drive north, we are passing an awful lot of rv’s going south. Do you think they know something we don’t? Ha, ha. Here is David resting when we stopped overnight at a Wall-Mart.

Anyway…we’re headed to Gaffney, SC again for an appt tomorrow. Just a quick stop though. If there is such a thing. More later. Enjoy the view from our on dash camera.

YESSSSSS! Success!

Posted on October 25th, 2008 by David

Just a quick note we are ON THE ROAD and have SUCCESS with the fine team at the Freighliner Service Center in Gaffney! After all that was tried that was mentioned on the last page, all six tires and rims were replaced just to see what would happen. Well, as fate has it, WE ARE SMOOTH!!! The tires are now the Michelin RV tires and they are slightly larger.

So even though it was close to 6 PM, it really wanted to get on the road. So we headed out for 1 hour and ended up in a Super Wal-mart in New Berry, SC. This is the first time we did something like this and we must say, we were kind of nervous. :)

Oh, one thing that did happen this morning when I was setting up the coach to leave and was checking the Saturn Outlook we tow. Well, when I shut the door, they all LOCKED! Yes, only keys we had for it was in the car. I called On-Star and POOF they unlocked the doors. But we were not sure that would work for we do remove a fuse from the Outlook when we tow it.

So we are heading out now to end up in Jacksonville. And guess what!?! With the driving fixed, Brenda drove for 2 hours!!!! Here is proof!

Way to go Luv! :)

Freightliner Day 2

Posted on October 24th, 2008 by David

Well we are sad to report we are now starting day 2 at the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney. Yesterday they replaced the drive shaft, did an alignment, changed the ride height and put on a vibration sensor in hopes to see where the issue is. Well, none of that really did anything. The sensor pointed at both drive train and tires…so more or less inconclusive.

So they put the old driveshaft back in as the new one had no change and readjusted the ride height. Today they are now looking at dismounting and remounting/balancing all six tires. They will also look at each rim and tire to be sure they are, well, round.

Oh, I need to mention these have to be the cleanest service bays we have seen.

We are supposed to get a down pour of rain later today, or as they say here a “Gully wash’en “, so we are hoping they can resolve the issue so we can get out before the rain hits.

BTW…I must say that it is a sure pleasure to be working with a company like Freightliner that truly put’s customers first. Everyone we have dealt with here in Gaffney have been outstanding. From senior management to the service center reception, it is just a breath of fresh air. The techs are polite and take care to listen to what you have to say even asking follow up questions. It is companies like Freightliner that others should strive to be like. If and when we may look for another coach, we will be looking for the Freightliner logo. (And we say this even without the issue being resolved as of yet as they are just that caring.)

More to follow when we have something more to say on this. Otherwise we would just bore you with note about us sitting in the waiting room and watching people play cards. (Yawn)

Freightliner Day

Posted on October 23rd, 2008 by David

Well as mentioned, we were heading to Gaffney, SC to have some work done on the coach in hopes to get the shake out of it. We made it without issue I am happy to report. (Not that we did not expect to arrive safely.) The service center has an area where we can plug into for staying overnight as the appoints are set for 8:00am each morning. The service tech comes right to your RV to pick you up and talk to you about the issues. Now we will see if they can resolve the issue.

So the travel thus far has been great. No rain! But we do expect that to change at some point. :) We still do not like driving in West Virginia based on the winding road and up and down. We will leave from here tonight or tomorrow and start to head to Jacksonville. What can we say about Gaffney, SC? We think it is the Car Wash capital of the world. I kind you not when I say we counted at least 12 car washes in a 8 block area. Some areas had washes that were across the street from each other!!!

All in all we are hopeful we will be able to resolve the issue we have with the vibration. Will keep you posted.

Here two shots from our travel…

This is the Fort Chiswell RV Resort.

Off and Traveling Again

Posted on October 20th, 2008 by David

Well we are FINALLY off and traveling again after a LONG summer of construction and family illness. We are on our way to Gaffney, SC to the Freightliner service center to finely, hopefully, get the drivability issues taken care of. (If you followed along with the other entries from the past, you know what I mean.) We need to be their by Thursday Morning at 8:00AM, so needless to say we are talking our time seeing we left today, Monday.

We plan to leave on Saturday and drive to Jacksonville Florida to have some other service related work done at Dick Gores RV World where we purchased the coach. Nothing major their, just some check up items and also I want to have installed an electrical protection system. So we have an appointment for Monday and will leave Tuesday and head down to see Andrea, Brenda’s sister, in Fort Pierce, Florida.

All in all, things are well and Tasha is doing well and enjoys traveling with us.

OH!!! Forgot! Brenda put on here slipper and found a mouse. :) That was fun. The sad part is that the mouse had passed away. But it must had just happened as we had only put the slippers in the coach on Saturday. So very strange. We checked the coach over and did not find any other signs of further mice.

So the travels continues later for our 2 week trip.
