Today was just a day of wandering around and exploring the area. Coronado, CA is a nice place to be. Their average temperature year round is 70 degrees. Not to shabby.
It’s a cute town with lots of mom and pop shops up and down the streets. Not to touristy of an area which is a pleasant surprise.
Coronado, CA
Coronado is also home to the famous Hotel del Coronado. This hotel has been around since 1888. It’s been in several movies including Marilyn Monroe’s “Some Like It Hot”. Their room rates are crazy outrageous, but it’s always fun to look around.
This is the inside of the hotel. I did not touch up these pictures at all. It’s really this dark (all that dark wood). Besides, I don’t think I could have made these pictures any more eerie if I tried. It just happened that way.

On the grounds of the hotel their is this really cool tree, the Dragon Tree.
…we headed to Ferry Landing. Ferry Landing is an area, still on Coronado Island, that the ferry from San Diego docks. Their are shops and restaurants in this little area. Nice views of San Diego across the bay.

Although it was a little gloomy today, and at times it looked like it wanted to rain, it was nice to get out and explore. And it never did rain. Tomorrow we move on to another rv park. Just across the bay in San Diego.
OK just saw the hotel pics with the weird lighting…or maybe not so weird, look close, close your eyes and squint…I think I see Marilyn Monroe!
I looked at your picture Hotel del Coronado and thought it was the Grand Floridian at first. I am enjoying your blog, starting at the beginning and working my way forward.
Hi Peter…Thanks for reading. You have a ways to go. LOL. But their are some good stories to come along your reading path. Enjoy!
