When we left Picacho Peak State Park last Wednesday we headed to Desert Center, CA. We had reservations at Lake Tamarisk RV Resort in Desert Center. We were not really sure what to expect as there is nothing around for miles and miles. Boy…were we surprised!
This place is literally an oasis in the middle of the desert.
It has a golf course, lots of grass, palm trees and a large lake. It’s actually a senior community with fixed mobile homes with some rv pads scattered about. Not a very large park, just three streets, but very nice. We will definitely be back when we pass through again.
Desert Center itself only has about 150 residents. A very small cafe, a post office and a small convenience store. No gas station and no shopping. People who live here drive 50 miles west into Indio, CA to go grocery shopping. And make sure you gas up before you head back. Round trip will take you a little over 100 miles. Ouch. Not where I’d like to be long term, but very nice to visit for a couple weeks or so.
So peaceful. And the sunsets were beautiful over the mountains. It’s so pretty to watch the mountains at sunset because it’s all around you. The sky just lights up pink and purple. And at night you can hear the coyotes yowling.
Tasha really enjoyed the warm weather. When we got here it was nothing but blue skies and sunshine. Mid 60’s, mild evenings. We’ll miss the peacefulness of this little oasis.
I am confused…is this where you are staying for the RV Rally? 50 miles away? Or is this a stop-over until the rally starts?
Hi…
“A Stop In The Desert” This was our stop over place before the rally. Not much of a view from the spot we got at the rally mind you as we are parked one behind the other. Bummer that we got behind a coach as their is nothing to see. I may look to move the camera on top of the coach for the week. ;)
