If you use a Waste Master hose system that we recommend, here is a quick tip on how to use it to BACK WASH your black tank in order to get more “crap” out of the tank. Please remember, for this to work, you want your gray tank to be 75% full or more.

David, I don’t have the waste master hose anymore (did yrs ago) but to accomplish what you are doing I use the Hydroflush With Removable Anti-siphon Valve. Just hook up with a garden hose and I can get more than your 50%.
Hi Walt…I’m so sorry to say that that really doesn’t work. Why, Because you really can’t bend water around the tube. Once it hits the corner he loses all its pressure. Therefore you don’t have any flow to be able to do a proper back flush using a garden hose and water pressure unless it’s a straight shot. And then it is only that fine stream of water pressure that is doing anything. Don’t believe me, here is a GREAT video showing it… https://youtu.be/dfTd0Slt_cU?t=10m6s
David, I goofed. I don’t have the Hydroflush, but the FlushKing with the blade valve which stops water going to the exit hose, thus back fills up the black tank to any level I want. After that I use the built-in sprayer
Nice work David,
I too have the same dump system and love it. This new procedure is just exciting. I have a flush system this in in the tank that I use from time to time and it seems to work but I now have to get my gray tank full and try this. I will be using less water doing it your way and will not be needing to pull out another hose to use the flush system built into the tank. Thank you for sharing you knowledge again.
David, thanks for the tip. I do have a Waste Master system and will try the back wash as you demonstrated. I don’t have electric pumps like you do as I have a RED so I will have to be careful not to overfill my gray as my readout isn’t so precise. I don’t know what happens if you overfill your gray but I don’t want to find out.
Ha! It would come up out of the shower drain first…lowest point for gray water to come back. Now you know. :)
We have the WasteMaster hose system….awesome! Thanks to you Dave I have started the backflush procedure when dumping….thanks for your sharing of great products and ideas.
Interesting idea. I’ll have to give it a try. As far as the Waste Master, I purchased it in April and by July had a split along two of the seams where the hose accordions. They were good about getting me a replacement. I hope it was just a bad batch failure and this one will last a long time because aside from that the system is great.
Hi Ethan…Yes, the backwash idea and use shown does VERY well IMHO. You won’t believe how much more “crap” you get out when you do this once in awhile. It is not something that you do often. Also thanks for the note on the issue you had. I have not head of that before, so sorry it happened. Mine still looks new and I put it in quite some time back. They are a great company to get out a replacement right away, I have heard that from others who had damaged their tube. From what I know of the build process, each unit is air pressure tested to 10 PSI. That is a lot and thus surprised to read about your issue. But I agree, it is a great system and I will forever have one even iwe replace our coach at some point.
