Day four is filled with lots of goodies and we have a second time lapse video! This is where the coach starts to look like an actual coach.
First things first is the back wall is installed. This starts the ball rolling for the rest of the walls.
The side walls are installed with these really cool cranes and straps. Their is no way these guys would be able to muscle these walls into place without these cranes.
Yeah for technology!
The end cap is fully installed at this point. Using those really cool cranes again with suction cups on them this time.
While all this is going on, another team is working on the ceiling. By working on, I mean, running all wires in the ceiling, putting the vents into place and the ceiling trim on.
Before the ceiling can go into place, the front cabinets need to go into place.
Fiberglass Roof Put Into Place
After the ceiling is up and everything checks out ok, it’s time to put up the fiberglass roof.
Once the fiberglass roof is installed it’s time to install all the roof top items.
I tell you one thing, the employees really don’t skimp on the Dicor or silicone.
Now it’s time for the slides! Now remember when we showed you the slide out shells that they made yesterday? Well, after they were cured another team got to work on the insides of the slides. So all the slides have all the cabinetry and furniture in place. So now it’s time install the slides.
I love it when everything fits together like it’s supposed to.
So today we started with some inside walls in place and we ended with outside walls, slides, end cap and roof all installed and ready for tomorrow.
We’re amazed every day at what these people here at Tiffin pull off. We’re so glad we came to the plant and did this.
Here is the time lapse video for todays build. Remember, best viewed in HD and full screen using the options at the bottom right of the player.
It is absolutely amazing how fast this is going together !!
And the really nice thing is that they let you darn near be a part of the assembly team !! (Love the picture of David putting the last screw in the roof)
This is going to be SO much nicer than the Winnebago you refused last year you’ll completely erase those memories from your minds once you have the new coach. Perhaps somebody “up there” was looking after you last year :-)
The time lapses are really amazing. What a superb memory. … and a neat set of videos to show off when folks want to see your coach !! And the T-shirts were another great idea. When I first saw the T-shirts I assumed that Tiffin gave you them to wear around the factory while you were there — but I see you had them made yourselves. Wouldn’t be surprised if Tiffin started doing that in the future :-) This set of posts you’re doing has got to be GREAT advertisement for Tiffin!!
Thanks for sharing all the pics. We visited the factory after buying our Phaeton and were mesmerized with how these things are put together. Glad to see your coach is well on its way of becoming your home.
1. Wake up in the morning (check)
2. Stumble to kitchen (check)
3. Focus whild pouring coffee into mug (check)
4. While carefully slurping coffee, turn on iPad (x)
5. Open Internet to Outside Our Bubble (x)
6. Sit back, relax, sip coffee and see latest blog on “How to PROPERLY build a Motor Coach (x)
7. Decide I don’t have a big factory with trained personel who care and show that quality counts (x)
8. While continuing to sip coffee, decide to leave coach building to Tiffin (x)
9. Okay, now I can go on with the rest of my day…(while still sipping coffee, of course!)
I love getting peeks at your obviously happy, though weary, faces during the time lapse!
Hugs and love…
I haven’t checked in on the progress for a few days and was pleasantly surprised to see how it’s going; how exciting for you guys! Looking fwd to the “test drive!”
We are really enjoying your daily update. So happy for you both. We LOVE our Phaeton and I know you will love your Bus.
I just love all the photos and the time lapses. It’s so cool that they let you be a part of it. Do the workers mind if you’re there? I mean do you feel in the way or do they make you feel welcome and a part of it. :) Just curious.
Hi…We have not run into one person that was not kind and helpful. They seem to enjoy us being their and even thanked us for buying the coach. Some even come up to us to see if we have any questions. And if they do not know the answer, they quickly find someone that does.
We hope you will love your Allegro Bus as much as we do ours. And the Tiffin teams follow up is wonderful.
