Driving to the Lake Mead area we had some beautiful views of the countryside. We saw these hills, pictured above, that we thought were strange looking. The rocks and boulders seemed to just pop up where ever they pleased. No rhyme or reason. We just thought it looked strange.
Then a little down the road and around a few corners and wallah! The Las Vegas strip.
We’ve been to Vegas many times for business and such. So no need to stop. We were on a mission. Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.
Lake Mead National Recreational Area is part of the National Parks system. However what you don’t find is the large cost of admission. Just $10 for a 10 day pass. Nice.
The sunset’s out here do make for some beautiful colored sky.
We also had a wonderful time biking around. Not around the entire lake mind you. Lake Mead is huge! When it’s full, it’s 110 miles long.
It was a nice time. Mild weather during the day. Crisp evenings. Beautiful surroundings. Not a bad way to spend a few days if I do say so myself.
I’m always impressed by the low cost of some of the most beautiful things in this country. Ten bucks for ten days at Lake Mead is a perfect example.
