Jeff Quilty was quite entertaining. We recognized him from the previous night when we saw the Anchors Aweigh show in Rocky Harbour. He was in the audience, just listening to the band play. They recognized him and asked if he would play a few tunes on stage. He obliged. Apparently he is quite a local celebrity here.
He performs all over Newfoundland so to just happen upon him in Norris Point was a nice treat.
We saw that their was kayaking rentals in Norris Point. So the next day we went back to Norris Point and rented a couple kayaks to go around Bonne Bay.
Kayaks On Bonne Bay In Norris Point
Our friend Evelyn had never kayaked before, so she thought she’d give it a try. We think she did very well.
still had his phone with him. And as fate would have it, it rang. Of course. But it was just a friend calling. So how funny is it to take a call while kayaking?
Bonne Bay is a glacier-carved fjord that is surrounded by the majestic Gros Morne Mountains made of granite. What wonderful sights.
We had a wonderful time kayaking Bonne Bay. Despite the weather! By weather I mean this…
The fog started to roll in and it started raining. Raining hard. It looked nice when we started out, just cloudy. No rain in the forecast. But once we were on the other side of the bay, it quickly changed. The water got real choppy. We worried about Evelyn, being her first time kayaking. Turns out she was fine. Having fun the whole way.
That’s how fast Newfoundland weather changes. Good thing we had on our rain coats. We were soaked by the time we got back to shore. We were laughing the whole way back though. What stories we can tell!
