When we were in Amarillo, TX we had a choice. A choice of going south to Florida or north to home, Rochester, NY. The trip time was actually the same. So now would be the time to decide.
Well, with no help from the kitties, they didn’t seem to care one way or the other, we decided to head for home. The weather looked clear enough to make a straight shot for New York. We had a really rough winter after Tasha had died and we just wanted to be home. So we ended our trip a little earlier than usual and high tailed it home.
When I say high tailed it, I mean it. We normally like to drive about 4 hours a day. Why rush if you don’t have to right? Well, we put in two 8 hour days and one 6 hour day to make it home before the weather closed in on us.
And boy did the weather follow us. That night in Ohio, where we had just left, their were terrible thunder and lightning storms.
We got home on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 4pm it was nothing but blue skies and no snow anywhere to be found. We even unpacked the MH without jackets on. Just a typical nice Spring day.
We, of course, woke up the next day at home to this…
With the motor home tucked away in the toasty garage we went out to find dinner that night.
Mistake. We should have known. We turned around and went home asking ourselves…
What are we doing here? Three days ago we were in Amarillo, TX and we were contemplating turning the air conditioning on. Typical. We laughed about the weather and said, “Well, David had to plow the driveway the day before we left on our trip, so it’s only fitting that he plow the driveway the day after we return.”
What else can you do but laugh?
Of course all our friends and family are blaming us for bring the cold wintery weather back with us.
So we are home now. MH tucked away in the garage nice and warm. Dreaming of our next adventure…this June. So stay tuned!
As a former Rochesterian, I must admit I posted with glee on FB the 80 degree sunny weather in Georgia the day the snow starting falling up there. :-) At least you made it back safely before the storm!
It’s funny how that happened to work out. When we left in early December it was between two storms. Then when we came back it was right before another storm. We certainly lucked out in the timing that’s for sure.

Welcome home! :)
Just so you know, it was about 85 here today. :P
