We just spent a couple weeks at the Tiffin Service Center Campground, or to those of us in the know, “Camp Red Bay”.
No, we didn’t have any major issues. Our one year warranty was coming due and we just wanted to get in to have a few things taken care of.
BK Is Thrilled We’re In A Service Bay
As you can see, the cats have their own opinions on being back in Red Bay, Alabama. As long as Whisper has a comfy place to nap, he could care less. BK on the other hand would rather be looking at nature than the inside of a service bay.
Some Cold Mornings
Yes, even though we were in the south, Red Bay, Alabama does get cold. One morning we woke up to 11 degrees outside and our front windshield looked like this. Good thing the defrosters work well. We were cleared up in no time and off to a service bay.
We first went into a mechanics bay. We had to get a couple things looked at. Nothing major. We were in and out in the same day.
Then it was off to a regular service bay. We had an air conditioner that was acting up and needed replacing and a couple other small things. We were only in there for a couple days.
Next was the paint booth. When in the paint booth you can not put your slides out. So for the next week we lived like this during the day.
Working On A Rock Hit
We had a lovely rock hit the side of our slide from a passing lawn mower during the summer. So this was a good opportunity to get that taken care of.
Sure, we could have gotten it taken care of elsewhere, but we know and trust the guys here at Tiffin. Plus, we have such a special paint job that we were apprehensive to take our coach anywhere else.
It took a few days in the paint booth. You would never know there was repair work done from the rock hit. They did a great job.

Even though it was super cold outside, that didn’t stop us from going to Jack’s and getting some Blue Bell Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream shakes. Our secret (ok maybe not so secret) addiction.
We do have our priorities after all.
While we were there at Camp Red Bay for a couple weeks and it being so cold that no one was outside and socializing much, we started to get a little stir crazy.
OK… a lot stir crazy.
So when we were inside the service bay we grabbed the camera and shot a little walkabout of the service center…
…Just for you!
Here’s the product of our boredom.
Hope you enjoy!
(So sorry about the noise. This surely was not scripted and yes we know we missed other areas. It truly was spur of the moment.)
Wow! Very nice video. I have an appointment next month with Fleetwood in Decatur In, I hope I have the same experience as you did! Thank you for sharing this video. I am now very interested in Tiffin!
Thanks, it was fun and spur of the moment thing. You can tell that as I would have opted for a better time due to that dam saw! They have a great service center where you can be with your coach as it is being worked on.
Good videos…is your paint job available to other RVers
It is not suppose to be as of yet.
I enjoyed that tour. What was in the restricted area that you were scooted from?
Prototyping area. Only kidding. It was a closed in paint booth. (I was joking about being taken away…that was our coach inside.)
Sometimes the impromptu shots and videos are the funnest to shoot and greatest to watch. You did a great job, it’s always to nice to see behind the scenes.
Nice Job! Thanks for pulling this together David!
cool video! You brought back some great memories.
I loved this! Wonderful video – even with the noise!
Nice little video so we can see what goes on. It’s nice that you can basically stay in your coach most of the time it’s being worked on.
The one thing that scarred me was the lifts holding up the coach. If that was in CA I’d be worried about a little shaker causing the whole thing to topple over.
I thought that was a great video. Hope security was a nice person. Ha! Ha! Keep having fun and keep us all informed. We so enjoy following your adventures.
I never saw your motorhome without slides out. It looks squished.
Gee I miss Red Bay…(sigh)
I enjoyed the video and seeing around the service bay. Found your blog while researching ordering a bus. Thanks for all the insight. If you are still in Red Bay, hang on for more bad weather tonight.
YES! I most certainly did enjoy your Tiffin Service Center Walkabout video! Good job. One question: why did you did not include a peek at the beautiful customer service waiting area? Comfy couches, chairs, TV, tables, puzzles, snack food, coffee and wifi! PLUS fellow Tiffin owners with whom to share friendly chats and info — a special part of the Red Bay experience!
Hi…Because, as mentioned, this was not planned. Simple as that. :)
David, I use to sell those lifts in my former life. Trust me, they will hold up much more than your bus. Neat thing is they can be “linked” together to lift multi-axle units. Kind of like what Charles Atlas said, “Give me a place to stand and I can lift the world”.
David – Hi. In the process of buying a used 2015 45LP and enjoying reading and watching your articles/videos. They are great and thanks. After reading/seeing this one the obvious question I have is why do you go to Bay Diesel for yearly services when it looks like all that could be done at Tiffin’s shop. Did is miss something? Is the Tiffin shop just a repair facility and not a maintenance facility? Thanks…
Tiffin does not do engine work. The look into issues and can do some work, but standard maintenance they do not do.
