Well, we did it. We finally left home for the winter again. When we left their was a wet snow falling. It was really chilly out.
So chilly that…
…an ice sheet was forming on the mirrors. The roads were fine though. Not slippery at all. Not to mention, we’re New Yorkers, we’re used to driving in this weather.
From the picture above you can see the visibility wasn’t as good as it could have been. With the wind blowing and the misty rain/snow falling, it was a fun way to leave our home. Thankfully though, it cleared up just outside of Buffalo and turned into a light rain. Once we hit Pennsylvania it cleared right up and the sun actually made an appearance.
Cold nights make for some nice mornings though. When the sun starts to burn off the coldness in the mountains it’s beautiful.
The further south we get of course we see the temperatures warming.
We stopped at the Tamarack Center in West Virginia on our way through. This was the first time we’ve had the time to stop and see what it was all about. And the verdict was…
Nice. It’s a round building that is filled with lots of artisan crafts. Nice this time of year for all your holiday shopping. A big selection of small and inexpensive to really large and crazy expensive. It also houses a theater (not movie but stage) and a conference center. It’s nice to get out of the big box stores and see what local people are making.
We are in Gaffney, SC right now at the Freightliner Service Center for our 45,000 mile check up and maintenance.
It feels good to be here again. The people are always super nice. There’s lots of restaurants around the area and an outlet mall. What more could you ask for?
Cute pic. Whisper looks wiped! :)
